MERCURY Keyless remotes and transponder chip keys

You may have noticed that your Mercury key is different from your other keys. That is because it is a Mercury chip key, equipped with an electronic chip, identifiable by your cars computer. If someone tries to start your car with a duplicate key, it will not start. Your Mercury remote is programmed to work exclusively with your Mercury keyless entry system. No other remote will successfully communicate with your car. For the sake of security, you can only access a Mercury replacement key by ordering it from Mercury or from a vendor who specializes in programming and selling these and Mercury replacement remotes.
