Your key is a Lexus chip key; your car will detect if the key you use contains a programmed chip. If it is not there, the car will not start. This, in addition to your Lexus remote, which is programmed specifically for your Lexus keyless entry system, helps reduce the incident of auto theft. If you need to access a new key or remote, you must order it from Lexus or from a vendor who specializes in the programming and sales of Lexus replacement keys. You can usually have your Lexus replacement remote programmed at the same time.

All keys and keyless entry remotes need to be cut (keys only) and programmed before use. Many items will come with free programming instructions, but some can only be programmed at a professional automotive locksmith or dealership. Please see your specific listing for details.
